When you liked doing an 18 mile run before work so much last week that you decide to do it again this week…🤷🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️🤪. Long run Friday is becoming a thing, which is maybe not the most fun getting up at 2:50AM, but I know I’ll be glad I got it done today when I get up tomorrow and have a shorter run. Today’s run went much better this week, which I attribute to me making the decision to take a short break every six miles, instead of going twice that distance before my first break. I also think it helped me mentally to just focus on 6 miles at a time and I also knew that I would be able to stop, refuel and cool down. I went off effort again for the first 10, then was going to see how I felt after that. My legs felt less tired today so I increased the effort just a bit. For the last 4 miles I did push the pace and even at the faster tempo, I felt good. Last mile I dipped into a sub 8:00, which surprised me when I hit mile 18 because I didn’t feel like I was going that fast. But i will take it 🙌🏼😄. Post run ice bath that I’m actually looking forward to after my runs. And while I was a little tired after my run, I think that it’s even more tiring teaching 7th and 8th graders all day 🫠👩🏻‍🏫🤪.
