Location: Ile-Ife. Circa: 1977 The Picture was taken on a Sunday as Mama and her daughter were on their way to Church. According to Princess Toyin Akomolafe-Lambo “Mama was holding a 40-year memorial for her mother in 1977. Her mother had died in 1937 at childbirth in Ogbomosho as there were no hospitals in ile-ife back then. Mummy was just 12 years old then, so she could not hold any ceremony for her mother as I did for her some days ago for her 10th-year Memorial. Being an only child, she always fell sick very often because of the absence of her mother and the maternal care she could not get. So, most nights her father Kabiyesi Adesoji Aderemi would lay by her side and nurse her to sleep. Because of this, no wife slept beside Kabiyesi, as he was always nursing his daughter who was always sick. (This was the story she told me) She would dream of her mother constantly and would always quarrel with her for leaving her alone. So, one night she visited her in the dream and brought medication for her in a green schnapps bottle. The next day, when the doctor visited the house to check on Mama, he brought some medicine in a similar bottle.
