Most of us are under the illusion that thoughts are the most honest and direct representation of ourselves, but once you start observing your thoughts objectively, you will realise that they’re merely a recycling of things you heard and old conclusions you made, If you intend to stay silent, you will notice that this isn’t something you have control over, and moreover, you can’t choose your next thought, so how can you say that this is your thought? This leads to the realisation that It’s not about controlling your thoughts or implementing better ones, that would be cheating yourself, rather, It’s about bringing awareness to the present moment. All you seem to control (to some extent) is where you put your attention, and once you bring awareness to your inner dialogue, It usually slows down or shuts up completely, Indeed, awareness slows down your processes enough for you to see the incoherence in your thoughts and that’s what dissolves them, leading you to a silent and peaceful state, where you can finally see things for what they are, where you can finally touch on an unprecedented and unconditional joy.
