I remember creating #DewyBrownGirls years ago after looking for references to describe this technique. As I typed words like “chic, clean, elegant, fresh, dewy makeup” all of the faces that popped up didn’t look like me or my models. Determined to create art that mirrored how I feel about black and brown women was my only goal. I wanted luxe hydrated skin and wearable art that felt effortless. After practicing nonstop, I found my signature. It doesn’t matter how successful I become, I’m always going to remember why I started this.
