What it’s really like hiking HALF DOME in Yosemite National Park — one of the most dangerous hikes in the world 🥾🧗🏻‍♂️ Nearly 9,000 feet above sea level. Over 19 vertical and physically demanding miles. Half Dome makes every list of most dangerous hikes in America. I woke up at 3 am to mentally prepare for this (AKA stress eat while Googling, “How many people die hiking half dome?” while Adam got one extra hour of sleep). The night before, he made us sandwiches, so I packed them in our backpacks along with water bottles, energy bars, and Liquid IVs. Adam told me the hike would be until like 1 pm….little did I know then it was a 12. Hour. Vertical. Hike. In order to get to the top of Half Dome, you have to enter a @nationalparkservice lottery. I don’t know HOW, but somehow, Adam got selected as one of the lucky hikers in the day lottery — and I got denied (an angel was looking over me). Regardless, I was going to support him up until the bottom of the infamous cables of Half Dome where I wasn’t allowed to enter. From the bottom of the mountain to the top of Half Dome, you gain 4,800 feet of elevation. There have been more than 20 deaths on Half Dome itself, and if you count the trail leading up to Half Dome, the number leaps to more than 60. It took him 2 and a half hours to climb up and down Half Dome. I am so proud of him. Now, for the hard part. To get home, you have to hike the exact trail down. Good luck 👍🏼 lol.
