A small piece of a big tree beginning it's new life. I'm lucky to live near the Lanhydrock Estate in Cornwall which is home to many veteran Beech trees. For such large trees they have shallow roots and at the end of their lives it's not uncommon for them to blow down in strong storms. A single tree can last me a whole year and produce hundreds of individual pieces of Woodenware which grace homes and restaurants around the world. I love seeing through the whole process from collecting fallen trees, to the splitting, sawing, turning, sharpening, carving, paint mixing, brushing, burnishing, oiling and photographing.
