Para esta edição da #ArtRio, temos o prazer de apresentar uma seleção de obras de #PanmelaCastro. O conjunto é parte da série que a artista vem produzindo nos últimos anos de maneira contínua, intitulada 'Artistas no ateliê'. A prática de pintar os retratos significa, para Castro, uma maneira de colecionar afetos e referências, construindo uma geografia afetiva-pictórica de seu tempo. Muitos dos retratos foram produzidos como resultado da relação de Castro com outros artistas e as trocas afetivas, poéticas e artísticas estabelecidas no contato entre seus trabalhos. Nesse sentido, as pinturas carregam um potente caráter metalinguístico, enquanto descrevem o espaço dos ateliês e as obras dispostas no espaço, realizadas durante o próprio momento do encontro. Mais informações via [email protected]. – For this edition of #ArtRio, Galeria Luisa Strina is pleased to present a selection of works by #PanmelaCastro. The set is part of an ongoing series that the artist has been producing over the past years, titled Artists in the Studio, and it brings together newly produced portraits of artists based in Rio de Janeiro. For Castro, portraiture is a means to collect affections and references, building an affective-pictorial geography of her time. The works do not follow a chronological order, but are sparked, above all, by different events in Castro’s trajectory: joint painting sessions, trips or formal and informal meetings. Thus, many of the portraits produced were produced as a result of Castro’s relationship with other artists and the affective, poetic and artistic exchanges established between them. In this sense, the works carry a powerful metalinguistic character, while describing the space of the studios and the pieces displayed in these spaces, produced during the very moment of the meeting.
