I wanted to share some images of the community shrine to Santa Muerte that lives inside of my shop. And tell you a bit about why she is here. I have been a devotee of La Flaca for almost 20 years at this point and when I found this shop space roughly a year ago she made it very clear that she wanted this corner of the shop to be devoted to her. It has honestly been one of the greatest blessings of having this shop that I’ve been able to provide a place for people to come and give her prayer, offerings, and devotion. And to witness how many people connect with her or want to learn more about her. Whenever a person leaves an offering we let them pin a milagro on the shrine as a physical marker of their prayer. At the end of each year all of the cash offerings are totaled up and that amount is matched by us in a donation to Mariposas. A charity which helps lift young women in Mexico out of poverty. Whereas the donations themself go towards monthly offerings, and tending to her shrine. I have such a deep love for her, she has been with me and beside me through some of the most difficult times in my life. And I credit her with saving my life on more than one occasion. It is an honor and a gift to be able to host a place for others to engage with her as well.
