SWITCH ON 5.09.2023.🦻 The big day finally arrived . A month after the surgery, @jazeeladam got his CI switched on / activated, and he responded to sound.. It was an emotional moment for all of us. Jaz was more interested in the toys and was a bit angry that we took some away so he could focus, hence his grumpy mood during the actual switch on. The special part for me was on the ride back home I put on a cartoon on my phone for him but this time I turned the volume up( we usually wqtch on mute ), jaz was amazed that the cartoon actually makes sounds, he took the phone straight to his ear almost as if to make sure he was actually hearing the cartoon sound ! Made me realise how much we take for granted. That moment will remain in my heart forever because it was the moment it finally hit me that my baby could hear now ! Nothing much has happened since, and we are gradually increasing the volume because it takes time to adjust to sound and can be very overwhelming. It takes about a month to notice actual responses to different sounds, and so it can be a bit dissaointiing at first . Patience is something we are learning every day , patience and faith that all will work out. It's been about a week since the switch on, and tomorrow, he starts speech therapy ! We had so much love after sharing the first video and we want to thank you all for the support.
