Have you ever walked on the beach and noticed pieces of plastic in the sand, or nets, clothing, and other materials? Sometimes the pollution is so visible you can pick up large pieces of trash with no effort (microplastics); sometimes it is so tiny you have to look closely to notice it (microplastics). What do these foreign objects have in common? They all passed through a human's hands at some stage. We need to be better at disposing of our waste. Hundreds of thousands of marine animals are suffering because of our negligence. We don't know where this piece of cloth originated. While using it, no one thought it would one day be cut out of the flesh of a seal. It was a lucky day for this female, too many animals are never this fortunate.
