Since many of you had messaged with questions asking how exactly do I use my rotary files and apex locator verify working length, I created this short demo video to show my workflow!⁣ ⁣ Some key takeaways:⁣ 1. I do not attach the apex locator clip while the rotary file is moving down the canal. I reach my predetermined WL first, and then stop my endo motor and attach the apex locator clip to verify. If I am not happy with the apex locator reading, then I will turn on the endo motor and make a quick adjustment with the clip still on. Once I am happy with the new apex locator reading, I will adjust the rubber stopper and check what my new WL is.⁣ ⁣ 2. Keep in mind some brands of rotary files may not be compatible with the apex locator and will not give you a reading. So you need to try your brand of rotary files and see if it will work.⁣ ⁣ 3. Why do I find the need to recheck my WL at the end of instrumentation? Keep in mind, your WL can sometimes change and shorten a little bit as you instrument the canal, so it’s always good to reverify before you move onto conefit!⁣ ⁣ 4. The reason why I like to check with my final rotary file instead of a corresponding size hand file is that I want to make sure my rotary file goes to the exact WL I want it to go so that my matching GP cones will also reach that same WL.
