"This one is for all my Ovarian Cancer sisters going through it right now. You’re likely feeling some shitty, defeating days. Let there be no doubt, this stage of treatment sucks. No, losing your hair is not a vanity thing, it’s a visual reflection of how the world sees you. But it’s just frosting on the cake. For me at this stage, it was an external manifestation of what the hell must be going on inside my body, and it didn’t look good.​ ​ At the time in 2019 when I was receiving chemo, I hated this picture on the left, as you can likely tell by my facial expression. But now, I love this photo because it reminds me of what I went through and keeps me grateful for where I am today. That woman on the left is tough as shit.​ ​ I was thinking the other day that it’s really time for a haircut, which got me thinking about this other photo, and made me laugh. You think that hair is never gonna grow back, but it does. Just like the surgery scars heal and life moves forward into a positive light.​ ​ The picture on the right is me four years later, clear of cancer from stage-4 ovarian, with no recurrence.
