Repeat after me- APPLE PIE RINGS are the next level pie!!! After picking 35 pounds of apples last weekend these happened🍎🍎 I have been wanting to make these for a few years now & I finally made that accomplishment 💫 I am telling you will never go back to a “traditional” apple pie 🥧 You just need a handful of ingredients that you probably have on hand & of course apples- even better if you picked them yourself 😉 Here’s what you need! 2 extra large apples 1/3 cup sugar 1 tbsp cinnamon plus more for dusting 1/4 tsp nutmeg 1 box of good quality puff pastry 1 egg whisked with 1 tbsp water Preheat oven to 400 degrees & line a baking sheet with parchment paper & set aside. Mix the sugar with the spices in a jar & set aside. Peel & slice your apples into thick slices then core the middle by using an 1 inch or larger bottle cap or pastry tip. Sprinkle with cinnamon & set aside on the cutting board. Add some flour to your work surface & roll out the defrosted pastry dough until it’s a little bit larger. Roll into strips about 1 inch then cut straight down the middle so you have 2 sides of pastry strips. Working fast so the pastry dough doesn’t melt-one at a time wrap the pastry strips around the apple about 8 strips-doesn’t have to be perfect just making sure it’s covered. Place on the baking sheet & brush with the egg wash & sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture on. Bake for 20-25 min keeping an eye on them in the 20 min mark so it doesn’t burn. Let cool for a few min then enjoy with ice cream or by itself!
