Jaahnavi Kandula was hit & k!lled by a p0lice officer who was speeding, and she d!ed at only 23 years old. She was crossing the street in Seattle; she was a masters student at Northeastern University. She was raised by a single mother and came to the United States to achieve the “American Dream” by earning a college degree and leveraging that degree to help her family. And even if she wasn’t so young, and so talented, and so caring of her family, her life still matters and is of the same value that each one of us carries for our loved ones. But Seattle p0lice would disagree. In fact, a couple of them laughed and joked about her death. To quote one of them: “Yeah, just write a check… $11,000. She was 26 anyway, she had limited value.” To rac!sts and misogynists, women, especially women of color, have no value. They think they can k!ll us and continue to move along with their days in peace. No, we will destroy them, but not with v!olence. We will destroy them with our empathy, intellect, & passion - hopefully we will find justice sooner rather than later. But I know there’s no justice for Jaahnavi and her family because she’s no longer here. #jaahnavikandula
