🧚🏼 #fairytalefridays 🧚🏼 Today I’m playing a bassoon quartet arrangement of Let it Go (2013) from the movie Frozen with music by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. Shoutout to @kevingraing for the awesome arrangement, which can be purchased at the link in my bio, and thank you to @nikhooks, @spalacio_bsn and @jhobassoon for playing this with me! ☃️ Frozen is based on The Snow Queen, a fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen from 1844. The original tale concerns two children, Gerda and Kai, who are best friends. One day Kai gets a shard of magic mirror in his eye that turns him mean, and he goes to live with the evil Snow Queen. Gerda has a series of adventures to try to find Kai, and when she finds him, her love makes him cry, which dislodges the piece of mirror and returns him to his normal state. ☃️ The story of Frozen differs substantially from the original tale. The younger sister Anna is based on Gerda, and her older sister Elsa is based on the Snow Queen herself. Elsa does not have complete control over her magical powers and accidentally unleashes them at a gathering.
