I wish everyone to look like they did. I wish nobody to go through a marriage of prevarication and drug abuse. When their story became public in the early ‘70s, they were immediately labeled as the new power couple of Hollywood (Ali and producer Bob Evans were already a huge Hollywood couple). She had previously experienced the success of the Ivy League (in every sense) drama Love Story and both of them had just acted together in Sam Peckinpah’s The gateway, a movie so loaded with energy (and substances) that you could tell by looking them in the eyes that there was dynamite going on between them. They crashed as a couple a few years later. Some more years into the future for cancer to take Steve’s life (he was living very spiritually in the last part of his existence). Since the divorce and not without further struggle and fatigue, Ali has been growing into living a fulfilling life thanks to her her amazing grace, sensitivity and talent.
