NIEUWS | AANWINST BISSCHOP We hebben het allereerste schilderij gekocht waarmee Christoffel Bisschop naar buiten treedt met zijn favoriete onderwerp: Hindeloopen! Op dit prachtige werk toont de kunstenaar twee vrouwen in Hindelooper kleding die een grote bijbel bestuderen. Bisschop stuurde het werk 'Zondag te Hindeloopen' in september 1860 naar de Tentoonstelling van Levende Meesters in Amsterdam. Zijn inzending was een daverend succes. Een recensent schreef: ‘De Hinlopensche meisjes van Bisschop overtreft al wat deze kunstenaar tot dus verre schonk, en verwezenlijkt de verwachting, die men van hem koesterde. Nooit zag men van hem zijne groote gave voor koloriet op die uitnemende wijze geuit.’ Het schilderij werd door de tentoonstellingsjury zelfs met goud bekroond! We zijn trots dit doek, dat we hebben kunnen kopen met dank aan de Alma-Tadema Kring, vanaf morgen te laten zien in de tentoonstelling 'Christoffel & Kate Bisschop: Verlangen naar vroeger'. Lees meer via de link in bio 🖼 NEWS | ACQUISITION BISSCSHOP We have purchased the very first painting with which Christoffel Bisschop goes public with his favorite subject: Hindeloopen! In this beautiful work, the artist shows two women in Hindeloopen clothing studying a large Bible. Bisschop sent the work "Sunday at Hindeloopen" to the Exhibition of Living Masters in Amsterdam in September 1860. His entry was a resounding success. A reviewer wrote: 'The Hinlopensche meisjes by Bisschop surpasses all that this artist has given so far, and realizes the expectation that people had of him. Never did one see from him his great gift for coloring expressed in such an excellent way.' The painting was even awarded gold by the exhibition jury!
