M18 Hellcat 💪🏻 fastest production tracked vehicle of the war. Designed and built by Buick Motor Company, the M18 was a tank destroyer which carried the 76mm high velocity anti-tank gun. Designed with the simple objective to destroy tanks, the M18 had thin armour to allow it to ‘shoot and scoot’. Traditionally tank design was a balance between Firepower, manoeuvrability and armour protection, however, the balance for the M18 was placed significantly in firepower and manoeuvrability. Powered by 400 + horsepower radial engine, the M18 achieved speeds of 60mph on road during testing.
