SOUTHERN BORDER — Drug cartels are reportedly sending masses of migrants to US border towns to occupy Border Patrol agents, allowing cartels to continue their smuggling operations elsewhere. Recently, a migrant group of 2,200 surrendered in Eagle Pass, Texas, while El Paso experienced a surge of 1,700 migrants in one day. This surge is partly driven by cartel misinformation about the Biden administration’s CBP One app, which they falsely claim guarantees asylum. US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) debunked these claims, stating the border isn’t open to illegal migration. Former El Paso City Councilmember, Claudia Rodriquez, expressed concerns about the strategic influx aiming to overwhelm the system.
