THE TEACH/PRACTICE EQUATION In my personal journey as a musician, I've noticed an intriguing trend: Those who practice with structure often make good teachers, while individuals with less organized practice methods often lack certain qualities expected of exceptional educators. While exceptions exist, there's a strong kernel of truth in this observation. This led me to conceptualize what I call the TEACH / PRACTICE EQUATION. In short, practicing equals teaching oneself. It involves understanding, breaking down, analyzing, and enhancing a subject.
