A year ago, I was faced with the challenge of growing an e-comm brand but running out of money fast due to inventory demands. As a business under 2 years old, it was hard to qualify for bank loans and when funding was offered, it was at predatory interest rates that would keep my business under water. @fearless.fund was one of the first VC funds to not only show interest in providing capital to @myhappyflo but they also awarded us funding of about $30-40k in the form of various grants throughout the year. That funding came at a very crucial stage and the reason my brand is still in business. Fearless fund also hosts accelerator programs to help black businesses get venture ready and during their pitch contests each year, they award over $250k to black women owned businesses We all know the stats that less than .34% in vc funding goes to black Women and although we make up 42% of new businesses formed, access to capital to grow and scale those businesses are just not as readily available. That's why when I heard that the fund was being named in an affirmative action suit for providing grants to women of color, I was a bit shocked. They are being sued for racial discrimination for providing grants to women of color! 😳 I stand with fearless fund and I hope you do too.
