This is me at Rosh Hashanah services. At a synagogue who's identity is deeply invested in social justice, liberation, and racial justice including support for Indigenous people. But they dont oppose zionism or endorse BDS. I feel that opposing genocide is a low bar. This wasnt a stunt - antizionism is holy to me. In my dreams 1000s of jews wear shirts like this to synagogues everywhere. In my dreams jews stop being afraid and support each other to speak out against zionism. To hold ourselves to account as we do on Yom Kippur. To transform our holy spaces to stop being on the wrong side of history.  When I went to Palestine 15 years ago and saw the genocide for myself, many things changed in me forever. The daily terror inflicted on Palestinians, the Israeli war machine fusing everything sacred with everything truly evil, the mirror it held up to me as a white US citizen. Its always with me. It makes it nearly impossible to participate in jewish communal spiritual life because I cannot stomach the hypocrisy. I cant stomach how Israel is the world weapons lab that exports tech to US police and govts all over the world (like Pegasus spyware that gets journalists killed, and the new Project Nimbus being built w Amazon and Google).  May Israeli genocide and apartheid end in our lifetimes. I believe Palestine will be free. Gmar chatima tovah / may we be sealed for good.
