Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) showed frustration Saturday after being asked about Rep. Matt Gaetz’s (R-FL) threat to try to oust him as speaker. “When are you guys going to get over that it’s alright that you put America first? That it’s alright if Republicans and Democrats joined together to do what is right?” he said after the House approved a 45-day stopgap funding measure that was carried by Democratic votes. Rep. Gaetz, a hardline member of the Freedom Caucus, said he would move to remove the speaker if he brought a continuing resolution (CR) to the floor, especially one that relied on Democratic support. “If somebody wants to make a motion against me, bring it,” Speaker McCarthy said. “There has to be an adult in the room.
