We are too excited to keep this under wraps any longer and want to share some big news: this September, Bill Jones will come on board as the Lead Resident at Township10. This two-year position is vital to the residency and is designed for a potter who can use the opportunity to develop their career and deepen their practice. During an intensive search, Bill stood out for his thoughtfulness, kindness, and generosity. His fluency in ceramic processes and techniques, experience with different residencies, and clear-eyed commitment to service sealed the deal.  @billjonespottery is a studio potter. Drawing from the vernacular of traditional functional pottery, his work focuses on the sculptural potential of clay—the intimacy of touch, the expression of line, and energy in form. He grew up in Bucks County, PA, studied architecture and design, and landed squarely in the clay community after a stint as a work-study student at Penland School of Craft. Bill received formal training as a potter in the Cardew-Hewitt lineage, completing a rigorous two-year apprenticeship with artist Daniel Johnston in Seagrove, NC. We can’t wait to support Bill’s practice and goals, and to collaborate with him in service to the residency. He is committed to supporting visiting artists, building community, and running a tight ship as studio tech. There’s even talk of expanding T10 firing options during his tenure to include pit-firing and wood-firing. 🔥 . #artistresidency #ceramicsresidency #wnc
