Storyboards from the raining sparkles scene in #Nimona (1/2) .・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。. I was given this sequence with a general idea of what needed to happen, but for the most part it was up to me to figure out the visuals, beats, and scene progression. In my initial pass, I had Nimona’s sparkles swirl around as if they were trying to come back together, eventually giving out and raining down. However the directors thought this was too high energy for the tone of the scene and wanted to try a version with only the sparkles raining down, which I think worked out a lot better. I have a lot of bittersweet memories of boarding this scene during lockdown. It was tough having to get into a somber headspace for a few weeks while working on it but I’m really proud of the final thing.
