When brewing soup, le Mum likes to add red dates (or jujubes), partly for their natural sweetness and also to nourish one's energy and calm the mind #益气凝神 That said, red dates can be quite heaty, and to reduce the heatiness, she will remove the seeds from the dates before adding them to the soup. You can slice/cut it open with 🔪 or ✂️ but le mum likes to use a straw.
