I recently realised it’s been years since I’ve updated my bio so here’s a little bit about my background and some context to the frameworks I draw from: I’ve been teaching yoga for 11 years and have studied and practiced yoga for about 20 years. I have been influenced by many different yoga and movement traditions (ashtanga, Iyengar, hatha & yin, as well as modern approaches to yoga) and have a background in contemporary dance. The simplicity yet immense power of returning to the body and breath is some thing that I’ve been deeply interested in for many, many years and has driven my ongoing curiosity to learn as much as I can about what it is to be embodied and how this can create space to know and deepen connection to ourselves, others & the world we are part of. I’m also a qualified social worker currently working as a counsellor/therapist specialising in working with trauma and have recently completed a level 1 qualification in Sensorimotor psychotherapy (a talk based somatic psychotherapy). I have also studied and practiced mindfulness meditation within Jon Kabat Zinn’s MBSR (mindfulness based stress reduction) frameworks. I am interested in how these practices and approaches intersect and can support people to connect to the body as a resource, place of wisdom, joy & deep healing. At the heart of it all is a love of the moving body and learning to fully inhabit and open to the depths of life itself. If you have managed to read this far - thank you 💕.
