Pagoda Chair workshop starts Monday & is the first time I’ve taught this chair of mine as a class. A Fanback in style, but with a wider, ‘grain shovel’ carved seat & box stretchers , it’s by far the most comfortable side chair I make. With obvious style cues to traditional American chairs , and a unique crest rail, the design was also influenced by my visit to the Nakashima Workshop and house in 2009 & seeing & sitting on George Nakashima’s Conoid chair.
