Content Warning: Talk of self harm Last year I invited my family to Stratford Hall for the day to celebrate my birthday, and to honor and give thanks to my elders and ancestors who have brought me this far. It has taken me a year to really process the day. I am in a completely different place in my life a year later and it is thanks to this day. My friend Jojo taught me that it is ok to say that I am a survivor of suicide. I am now 7 years past what I set as my end date and I am so glad I fought on. I lost a friend a month ago, and If I had been able to reach him I would have said, “I promise you that if you fight on you will find people who will fight with you, who will dream with you, who will love with you, who will live with you!” I am saying this now to anyone who needs to hear it. Im so glad I was able see days like this. I’m not going to sugarcoat life, it’s painful and hard, but it’s also so beautiful. Please fight on with us. Thank you God. Thank you Ancestors. Thank you Mom and Dad. Thank you family and friends. Thank you for fighting with me. Thank you to Stratford Hall.
