As far as Fall Tomatoes go, I've been nursing along some green zebras, planted cutting of black krim and Kellogg's breakfast and I wanted to try and squeeze in some paste tomatoes to put away for the winter. Although I should've stuck with only determinate varieties I really wanted to try my hand at some Opalka and Amish Paste tomatoes from seed_savers_exchange . . I planted these with worm castings and gypsum and will top dress with guinea pig 💩 and water them in with some homemade comfrey tea. They're planted about 18" apart and will be trellised on this cattle panel archway alongside established San Marzano and gardeners delight tomato plants. . If you're stressed about putting out plants in this terrible heat, consider creating a temporary shade structure over individual beds for now and use what water you have to focus on babying those plants along. If you have limited space and want to go full fall mode then you can start brassicas inside and outside now for most of Texas and carrots can be planted any time!
