3 Sep 23 [#yangs2023khaoyai] :: The post couple retreat review you’ve all been asking for. Is it worth all the courage, trouble and burdening of grandparents to take off on our own? Her: Although I was the apprehensive one about couple trips like these, I found myself enjoying it so much I didn’t want to go home! I could soak in the tub for hours, go for cocktails every night, wake without an alarm clock and head in for a massage without thinking if the kids are bored waiting for me. Did I miss them much? Not really because I know there’s nothing I can do now that I’m 1465km away from them. Besides, I received a message from home saying, “It’s actually quite fun preparing the kids for school… like parents again. So next time you both can go and let them stay over…” Him: He was ready to head home on Day 3! He felt like there’s no need for another trip like this again, says the one who kept bugging me to be ready for a parents-only holiday. I asked him why? His rationale was that the preparations post and pre trip were quite a handful. If we want we-time again, why don’t we just stay in Singapore! The kids can staycay or go on a holiday with gramps instead. The motive will still be met and best of all, there will not be any backlogs when we return. Perspectives Perspectives. It’s true we went through a crazy frenzy of packing and scheduling to settle the kids in another home. It’s not like we have a helper and we can keep the kids home with her and their grandparents. When we return, there will be two luggages to unpack and wash [theirs and ours] on our own. Bedsheets to be changed after travelling on road and air for 9 hours. Thereafter, dog to walk, kids to hug and tell bedtime stories to, planning for the next day’s breakfast, etc. It’ll definitely be a lot simpler when you return to a clean home with no chores awaiting. So, is the five days away alone worth it? Recharged, yes but it also does feel like a harder hit to come back to reality. Back to heating up a bottle of chicken essence 4 times a day because you keep forgetting to go back for it in the kitchen. Nonetheless, I liked this trip. #mmlittleetravels
