With the toasty Midwestern temps the last couple days, I got to reminiscing about escaping summer’s sweltering heat to the Rocky Mountain high country. I took a midsummer break from a gnar gnar touring schedule for a backcountry backpacking refresher with my buddy @charlieberens. It’s a gosh darn obstacle to put to words experiences like this, but I’ll simply say that, for me at least, there’s few things in life more gratifying then working your booty off to get to a remote and deeply special spot, and experiencing the uniqueness that comes along with that. The separation from the normality of perpetual multi-faceted communication lets in elements of yourself that rarely get to find their way into your consciousness through all the “noise”. Places like this remind you of “the wonder of it all” and how our experience as an individual is both significant and very insignificant at the same time. It always blows my mind how time in the back country breaks down the separation between human and nature. It has an uncanny ability to remind us that we’re a small part of something that’s so so so much bigger. For me, nature is a church, the one I can most easily find meaning within, and places like this are the greatest sermon I could hear. #backpacking #backcountry #wildlands #makingmusic #getoutthere #rockymountainhigh @manitowocminute
