Today is World Sepsis Day, and it is so important to spread awareness so people know what signs to look out for. Fast treatment is crucial for survival of sepsis. Luckily we are joined by our friend @laurenelysew, who is a Sepsis survivor, to help spread the word. As Lauren said, any infection can turn into sepsis. Sepsis is a medical emergency and every minute counts and early detection can be the difference between life and death. Look out for these signs, remember the acronym TIME: 🛑 T: High or low temperature 🛑 I: Infection 🛑 M: Mental decline 🛑 E: Extremely ill feeling Other signs can include: extreme shivering, muscle pain, passing no urine, severe breathlessness, vomiting, mottled skin, being sleepy and difficult to wake up, or fast heartbeat. Up to 50% of severe sepsis survivors suffer from long-term physical or psychological effects. Please share the signs of sepsis with your friends and family.
