Today is our last #MedievalMondays! Thanks for joining us this summer. But don't fret-- we have a lot more medieval content coming your way with our upcoming shows, Medieval Money, Merchants, and Morality, opening Nov. 10, and Morgan's Bibles: Splendor in Scripture, opening Oct. 20. The tale of Tristan’s love for Yseult (or Isolde), the wife of his uncle King Mark, was one of the most popular medieval love stories. This text describes the exploits of various legendary knights. In the first image, Guinevere discovers Lancelot and Elaine in bed; in the second, Morgan le Fay and Alexander the Orphan share a kiss; in the third, Tristan, wearing the gold-plumed helmet and armor, reads a message from Isolde. ___ Roman de Tristan, France, probably Bourges, April 15, 1468. The Morgan Library & Museum, MS M.41, fols. 135r, 44r, and 178v. #MedievalMondays #MorganLibrary #manuscript #tristanandisolde #guinevere #lancelot
