Library Lundi, or Mario Monday? As I mentioned Saturday, Emily Evans Eerdmans’ new book “Mario Buatta: Anatomy of a Decorator” is making me think of Mario Buatta a lot. Seen here, several views of the library of the Carolands, built by Harriet Pullman Carolan in the early 1900s and decorated by Mario Buatta for his clients Ann and Charles Johnson in the early 2000s. More vacant than occupied during its existence, the large (over 55,000 ft.²) house had not only been used to train rescue dogs and as a decorator showcase but was also the setting of a very violent attack and murder prior to the Johnsons’ purchase in the late 1990s.
