Today is International Peace Day, a day to promote peace around the world and to raise awareness of the importance of peace for all people. Peace is not only the absence of war and violence, but also the presence of justice, equality, and human rights.⁠ ⁠ At Space for Humanity, we believe that peace begins with perspective. Our mission is to send purpose-driven leaders to space, where they can experience the Overview Effect, a profound shift in worldview that reveals the beauty, fragility, and interconnectedness of our planet and all life on it.⁠ ⁠ We are expanding access to space for all of humanity because we know that seeing Earth from space can inspire us to work together for a more sustainable, just, and harmonious future. We are also training, educating, and empowering emerging leaders to ensure an inclusive future in space.⁠ ⁠ This year’s theme for International Peace Day is Actions for Peace: Our Ambition for the #GlobalGoals. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 goals that aim to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure peace and prosperity for all by 2030. Achieving the SDGs will require collective action from everyone, everywhere.⁠ ⁠ That’s why we invite you to join us in taking action for peace today and every day.
