Back in the 18th/ 19th century this room was used to produce wine. The grapes were poured down from the window and pressed with that massive wooden press while the juice was flowing to the tanks under the floor. We started with clearing the room from all the ancient (and not so ancient) stuff just to discover that the room was occupied by quite a few rats 😂 After clearing the room we manually removed all the plaster covering the stones and cleaned all the seams from the sand and mortar to get it prepared for the next step which will be the sandblasting. During the sandblasting the stones will retain their original white color and as we finish the seams with new white mortar the room will look amazing. The wall under the arch (next to the kitchen) is not original so we will tear it down after the sandblasting making the room even more connected to rest of the living area. #trulliguarini #puglia #trulli #renovation #winery #puglialovers #unelmiaitaliassa #trullo @trulliguarini
