Exciting news! Everglades National Park and Flamingo Everglades are pleased to announce the grand opening of the reconstructed and renamed Guy Bradley Visitor Center and the new Flamingo Lodge & Restaurant! Join us for a public celebration and ribbon cutting on October 27th.   The former Flamingo Visitor Center was renamed for the first Audubon game warden, who was killed in the line of duty protecting wading birds during the plume hunting era of the late 1800s and early 1900s. Featuring a flamingo-pink exterior, the newly reopened building hosts interactive exhibits on the unique coastal ecosystem and its inhabitants, including cultural stories from the people who made homes in the challenging environment.   Longtime park visitors might recall the original Flamingo Lodge & Restaurant, a popular visitor spot for nearly 40 years. The new Flamingo Lodge offers 24 rooms with kitchenettes and balconies, and the Flamingo Restaurant will be serving up delicious South Florida cuisine with picturesque views of Florida Bay. The lodge reservations are now open for stays starting November 1st.   The Grand Opening event will be from 1:30 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27. Visitors can enjoy classic Flamingo Everglades experiences, including the Backcountry Boat Tour and a Flamingo History Walk. Speeches and a ribbon cutting for the new facilities will round out the celebration.
