Discs known as 'bi' symbolized Heaven Tiān, an ancient term that is one of the key concepts in Chinese philosophy. This spectacularly massive jade bi and its magnificent bronze stand would have once stood outside an important hall in the Forbidden City. In fact, the only known counterpart of the exact same style and size—and even cut from the same stone—currently stands in the central axis facing the Yangxindian. These are the two largest bi discs in the world, powerfully representing Heaven and imperial authority.
