Greek Lessons - I struggled to get through this book more than I expected. Maybe, I am not smart enough to understand the lyrical and poetic writing 🥹 It is a simple story based on the blurb, but it is not as simple as that. Greek Lessons has two main characters, a Greek teacher who is going completely blindness slowly and a student who has become mute. While I liked how the story portrays the importance of language for human connection, understanding each other, and how we could find comfort in someone through language, I had to admit that it was hard for me to stay invested in the story as I got easily confused with the dual perspectives. I had to stop reading several times to confirm which character was the focus of a certain page. Nevertheless, I understood the story after half of the book, and it became engaging since then. But, still, the story didn't grab me as a whole. Even though I felt quite sad that I was not fond of Greek Lessons as much as I had hoped, I still want to read the other two titles by the author, Human Acts and The Vegetarian. I hope I’ll like them. This book was not for me, and I honestly think that if you’re looking forward to reading this book, kindly do so, as I saw many positive reviews about the book.
