Unfortunate Truth… Some of these firefighters are not like the others in this clip… Can you tell the difference in duties? Because I sure as hell can’t… This clip from Gabriel Kirkpatrick Mann’s documentary, “Hotshot” sums up the situation on the ground quite well… It’s a unfortunate reality that there are military veterans who chose to continue civil service, working in extremely dangerous environments who “come home” to a situation where they are living out of their trucks at campsites - All because they aren’t paid enough to afford housing… Yea, you read that right… There are homeless, veteran, wildland firefighters out there defending your public lands and million dollar McMansions. Why this isn’t national news is completely beyond me… And we’ve had enough… Sure there was a temporary pay raise with the bipartisan infrastructure act - But, come October 1st, it disappears… And I guarantee you that if a permanent solution like Tim’s Act doesn’t pass, or if a band aid solution like the Wildland Firefighter Paycheck Protection Act doesn’t pass, then there will be nobody left to fight these wildfires consuming your public lands and your property… Good thing we have folks like the @grassrootswildlandfirefighters organization working their asses off to fix this problem… Go support them… Also - Go watch and support Gabriel’s documentary at www.hotshotmovie.com… Although some of it may not make many friends - Overall It’s a banger of a film, and it does a great job at explaining what wildland firefighters do… #wildfires #wildlandfirefighter #wildlandfirefighters #wildlandfire #firefighters #forestrytechnician #hotshots #handcrews #helitack #smokejumpers #mysteryranch #hotshotbrewery #thesmokeygeneration #timsact #grassrootswildlandfirefighters #pulaski_shovels_andmen
