Gluten Free Jowar (Sorghum) Rotla/Roti. Detailed recipe 👇🏾 (mentioning some of your favorite brand below!) My mom brings Jowar flour from India, some of you have mentioned that swad and Jalpur are good brands. In Canada, you can get sorghum flour in bulk barn store. And if you really cannot find jowar/sorghum flour, I highly suggest using Maseca Mexican corn flour. It is very very close to jowar flour, easily available at any grocery stores in USA, the dough doesn’t fall apart, makes good soft gluten-free rotis. Or simply make rice flour rotis, recipe on my blog! 👉🏾 Mix 1 cup of Jowar (Sorghum) Flour and 3/4 cup of hot water. Mix it well till all the water is evenly absorbed with the flour. 👉🏾 Wait till the flour is not too hot to knead. Use more or less water if needed to get soft clay like consistency. Knead the dough smooth. 👉🏾 Once dough is smooth, make 4 even sized dough balls. 👉🏾 Massage each dough ball before rolling. Dust a dough ball in dry rice flour, place it on a paper towel (makes the rolling very smooth and easy). Use your hands or rolling pin to roll it. 👉🏾 Dust more dry rice flour if you need to roll the roti. Roll it as thin or thick you like. Try to make it evenly all around as you can. 👉🏾 Place rolled roti on hot tawa. Make sure the tawa is not extremely hot. Once the initial side shows tiny little bubbles, it is time to flip the roti. 👉🏾 Cook on other side of the roti on medium heat till you see more bubbles forming and some brown spots. 👉🏾 Flip is one more time and let it puff up on the tawa using medium/high heat. You can put gentle pressure on the side of the roti to help it puff up if it does not happen on its own. 👉🏾 Once the roti is cooked, place in on a muslin cloth or paper towel, and store it in a closed container to keep them soft longer. 👉🏾 Serve them with any vardu (mixed sprouted beans stew), beans/lentil, curry, subzi, dal, raita, achara, eggs etc!! Or simply spread ghee and sprinkle sugar, enjoy while its hot, just like how my Kamu baa used to serve it to all of us while we were kids!! #jowarroti #glutenfreeroti #sorghumflour #jowarrecipe #homemadeflatbread
