Is it too late for a summer post? NO IT IS NOT. It has been in the 90s all week and even if I'm ready for cider and sweaters and pumpkins, they'll have to wait. At least until I tell you about this beachy romcom because you guys: I have discovered this fab romance writer named EMILY HENRY! I'm sure you've never heard of her but she has a whole bunch of books that are summery and sweet and a little steamy and just the right amount of witty banter and you're going to love them! JK. I know I am the very last person on bookstagram to read an Emily Henry book. And I loved it! ⛱️ As you may/probably/definitely know, Beach Read is about a women's fiction writer named January who spends the summer writing a new book in her late father's beach house, while mourning his recent passing as well as some disappointments during his lifetime. Next door, coincidentally, is Augustus, her college crush turned professional nemesis, now an acclaimed literary novelist. They switch genres to get through their writers block and voila! Adorable premise and adorable couple! What surprised me was the touching resolution of January's family issues, and how she came to see her parents not in black and white terms, but in shades of gray all defined by love. If you are an Emily Henry neophyte like me, start with this one because it's too cute to resist! ⛱️ And when it's too hot to cook, you can find me in the kitchen freezing up some popsicles! This is a post that was purely for color - no popsicles in this book but I felt inspired by the cover and beachy vibe. I've made a lot of food for this page but molding and photographing tricolor popsicles was a seriously drippy, delicious challenge! ⛱️ So what EH book should I read next?
