This nostalgia-filled novel has one cool premise, a romance to root for, and a guarantee you’ll have “Hey There Delilah” in stuck your head for all eternity (it’s still in mine)! 🎶💗 Cecilia is a rock journalist who unwittingly finds a clue to one of the music industry’s great mysteries: who is the muse for former pop sensation and heartthrob Eddie Vee’s classic love song, What You Do To Me? Cecilia sets out to uncover the answer, and to find Eddie, who has vanished from the public eye after a tragedy. Unaware of what her ambition may cost her, can Cecilia mend the broken relationships in her own life before reuniting two star crossed strangers? 🎼💗 We read many stories about art as the focus of a novel - a painting, a play, even recently, a video game - but this may be the first I’ve read about uncovering the layers of a specific pop song. This unique concept was so much fun! I believed every word of Cecilia’s quest to discover the meaning behind the lyrics, and the young romance between Eddie and Sara was filled with teen yearning and tenderness. I haven’t enjoyed 80s/90s nostalgia so much since This Time Tomorrow! (Anais Anais anyone?) Book clubs will have plenty to unpack about relationships, self discovery, and true love destined by fate. OUT OCTOBER 17! 🎶💗 This book features some Jewish cooking that was very timely as I was preparing for the holidays last month. As soon as a babka was mentioned, I was in! Babka is surprisingly time consuming to make, because it is really a twisty, yeasted bread with filling, so it has to knead and rise before preparation. It may not be a make again treat - it's just so much easier to buy! - but it was devoured in a day and made my house smell amazing. This one is filled with Nutella, but you can do chocolate - or cinnamon, which we know from Seinfeld is a "lesser babka!"
