With this post, I am starting a new series, "TIP Monday," where I would like to share my favourite tools and supplies. With so much offer in the market it is not always easy to find the right products or know what products are available for a given purpose. This is not a paid advertisement, and I am sharing my knowledge with you solely for educational purposes. Some of you might have already guessed from the video that the first post is about Hexiform. It is a great alternative to paper or cardstock templates in English Paper Piecing (EPP). It is washable at 40C, so there is no need to remove it. The construction of the material provides structure and creates a padded effect. It comes in a variety of shapes and sizes, both as pre-cuts and sheets. I buy mine from @ashmeaddesigns or @tilkkunen. A Hexiform template has a woven and non-woven sides. You place the fluffy (non-woven) side to the fabric. You can either glue or thread baste to prepare you shapes. I prefer glue for accuracy and speed. As you can see from the video, I mainly use Hexiform for embellishments. In my opinion, it is particularly good for tiny epp and curved shapes.
