In the 🇳🇬Nigerian igbo tribe we have a tradition called “Omugwo”, which is basically where the mom from the wife’s side will come spend extended time taking care of the baby and the new mom 🥹 This audio was 100% fitting because Lord knows that her help really did make my entrance into motherhood smoother. I honestly want to say that I have looked forward to this for most of my life because I love getting to be apart of tradition that also feels like a rite of passage. My grandma did it for my mom and now my mom has done it for her first grandchild. Hopefully one day I can do it as well 🫶🏽 I would also be COMPLETELY amiss to not thank my village at large for their help and support because they showed out! My dad even came for Omugwo and it was sweet having him here. In your culture do you have anything like this or do you wish you had sth similar to this?
