Oulun yliopiston lahjoitusvaroilla hankkima aivopesuri on saatu asennettua Oulun yliopistolliseen sairaalaan ja koekäyttö aloitetaan heti. 🧠 🚿 FUS LiFu -laite eli kansankielellä aivopesuri mahdollistaa erilaisten täsmähoitojen tutkimisen ja voi olla ratkaiseva askel parantavien hoitojen kehittämisessä esimerkiksi Alzheimerin tautiin, aivolymfoomaan ja epilepsiaan. 🔍 Laite mahdollistaa aivojen veri-aivoesteen lyhytaikaisen aukaisemisen ja vesiliukoisten lääkkeiden viemisen perille oikeaan kohtaan aivoissa. FUS-laitteen teknologian yhdistäminen oululaiseen erikoisosaamiseen, ultranopeaan magneettikuvausmenetelmään, avaa täysin uusia mahdollisuuksia aivosairauksien tutkimuksessa. 💡 Kuvassa toiminnallisen neurokuvantamisen professorimme Vesa Kiviniemi ja aivopesuri. A device dedicated to researching brain diseases, a so-called brain cleaner, acquired with funds donated to the University of Oulu, has been successfully installed at the Oulu University Hospital, and trial usage will commence immediately. 🧠 🚿 The FUS LiFu device, colloquially known as the 'brain cleaner', enables the exploration of various targeted treatments and could be a pivotal step in the development of curative therapies for conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, brain lymphoma, and epilepsy. 🔍 The device allows for the temporary opening of the blood-brain barrier and the delivery of water-soluble drugs to the precise location in the brain.
