We are extremely proud of our organic pedigree British Friesians that make up our dairy herd at Daylesford. Our cows are raised on a clover-rich, forage based diet and have a naturally slower metabolism meaning they produce less milk in the short term than a Holstein cow (the breed typically used in the UK for intensive dairy production). Our Friesians are put under less pressure, and as a result live longer and are able to produce more milk over the course of their lives than a Holstein can - a much more sustainable choice. We also think the milk from our Friesians is of superior quality, packed with goodness including a high content of omegas and butterfats. The makeup of the milk will change throughout the year as it’s subject to the seasonal forage available. Being an organic farm, we also never standardise (raise or lower the milk fat) or homogenise (disperse the milk fat) our milk - we prefer to leave it in its natural form to ensure it is rich and creamy. #DaylesfordOrganic #DaylesfordFarm #organicseptember2023 #SwitchToOrganic #ChooseOrganic
