A sweet way to the start the day - less than 24 hours old, one of our brand new pedigree British Friesian calves finding her feet. After spending the first five days with her mother, this little calf will go into a small social group of five and be hand-reared on milk from the herd, ensuring plenty of human interaction and attention. Next May, at six months old she and the rest of her group will go out onto the fields for the first time to graze over the summer months. By the following May, she will have matured into a heifer, and newly pregnant will be integrated with older cows, forming invaluable bonds as the herd help to show her the ropes of the dairy parlour. We calf our organic dairy herd between August and February to help maintain a consistent supply of milk to our creamery where we make our award-winning cheeses - it’s situated just 30 metres from the milking parlour 🐄 #DaylesfordOrganic #DaylesfordFarm #OrganicSeptember2023 #ChooseOrganic
