Yukon Anna Like a stomach ache after it eases, you may not have noticed Anna’s recent absence. As the spoiler above suggests, she’s been wreaking havoc in the wild forests, rivers, and “highways” of Yukon Territory. It’s been the trip of her dreams: encountering, on average, zero new dogs per day. She’s been bikejoring the highways (there’s very little traffic) and giving the squirrels a sporting good chase. We’ve seen dozens of bears, bison, caribou, coyotes, and a lone wolf. We met three grizzlies in an accidental overlap of trail use (they were hiking down a trail as we were hiking up). Anna was so preoccupied with her squirrelling that she didn’t notice the big bears so we calmly urgently retreated and kept on living. Yes.. it’s been a fine journey, even by the most critical jerk we have to grade… no stinky homeless pup in sight, no jolly little foster dog to share her snacks, and no carefree freeloader to look at her when she isn’t in the mood to be looked at. But she’s had enough time to herself (timeframe judged by bureaucrats somewhere, probably, and therefore not relevant or applicable), so we stopped at the Whitehorse Humane Society and met all the dogs. To Anna’s displeasure, we left with the best homeless dog (a phrase which here means “the least objectionable by Anna’s prerequisite list”) to transfer to Alberta. Stay tuned to meet #adoptable Yukon Feta.
